CNOR

OMG, I am SO relieved- passed my CNOR! It is a weight lifted from my back! Good luck to any who intend to take it, and brush up on sterilization!

Congrats! I really want to become certified as well, but that huge price tag really scares me. Nobody can ever give me a good idea of how hard the test really is, and I'd be really disappointed spending that kind of money just to end up failing it.

I know- the only reason I spend the $ was because I have to to pass my RNFA certification class. It was pricey, $375 (let my AORN lapst), but I hope it's worth it. I did get the study package from CCI, which helped tremendously! I also used the 2011 AORN guidelines, Alexanders, and aami guidelines for surgical sterilization. The latter 3 I borrowed from work- so at least I didn't have that extra expense. Good luck if you decide to take it!

Depends on the hospital. Some will have an incentive for being certified. Others will have an incentive for having a higher degree (BSN, MSN). Some, like mine, will not have an incentive for either, although mine will reimburse the cost of the test as long as you pass.

I just passed mine today. If you are thinking of taking it, brush up on pre-op, PACU, anesthesia and sterilization. There were a lot of positioning questions as well as some cardiac. Good luck!
