CNA pay

Published

Well, I found out the info I needed regarding CNA training in my area. My next question is regarding pay. I don't know if I'll get into the ADN program in 2004, so I thought I would take the necessary CNA class and start getting some experience, preferably in a hospital. The problem is that my desk job pays pretty well. I know I would have to take a pay cut, but I'm just wondering how much.

Can anyone tell me approximately how much CNA's get paid?

It really depends on your area. I know where I live the going rate is between 10 and 12 dollars an hour... but I work for a large nursing home corporation and I overheard today a woman saying that CNA's at a particular center make 8.00 an hour. You can always check http://www.salary.com

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Depends on your area. For example here, i make an amount between 10 and 14 bucks an hour, but i also have advanced job duties.

Back home in WVA ( appx. 3 hours away), i'd be lucky if i made over 6.50

Hi Jen. I am currently a nursing student myself. The pay depends on what area you live in. I live here in upstate south carolina and currently work in a hospital as a patient care technician 1. My starting base pay is $7.95 an hour and with shift differentials since I work third shift bumps up to $8.95 an hour. Hope that helps. Patient care technician basically do CNA work but also can do things like draw blood or do dressing changes.

Well I work as a PCA and I make $12.75/hr.. Which is like .50cents/hour LESS that the LPNs..

I work in a union facility and our CNA start around 12 and top out after 4 years at just under 15. Plus we have great benefits too! Before our nurses got our union contract, the top pay CNA were making more than new hire LPN- but then we negotiated a raise just under 20% over 3 years. I think it depends on where you look. I have applied for LPN jobs that offererd me 8.80 an hour and I am just under 20 an hour now.
