CNA Educator

Specializes in Wound Care, Infusion, ER, HH.

I have been asked by my company to look into the requirements for teaching a CNA class. However, no matter where I look, I don't seem to looking in the right places for the training module, requirements to become and instructor etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I live in Michigan.

In Washington state, all of this information is at the state level- board of Nursing Assistants I think

Look to your state's cert board for specific topics, etc. As far as I know, the only credential I have ever seen needed is to be a nurse. I've never seen specific training modules but haven't looked for them. There may be some you can buy but I doubt you will find a program set up for you for free. Do a lot of websearches. CAll a local technical school and see if they get their modules from somewhere or if they make them up themselves.

Specializes in Hospital Education Coordinator.

In Texas the certification and required education is mandated thru the Health Dept.

Contact whomever is responsible for awarding certificates in your state.

Specializes in ICU, Cath Lab, Instructor.

In Kentucky you have to have a MOI (Methods of Instruction) certification to teach CNA classes. I am not sure if this differs from state to state.
