  1. Hello. I will be graduating from an FNP program in May. Yeah!! I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to when it is appropriate to begin sending out resumes/looking for jobs. Do I need to wait until after graduation? After boards? Is it okay to start doing that while still in this last semester? Any advice on this process would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi, This is my first sesmester as full time faculty in an ADN program at a community college. I have been working as a part-time clinical instructor for the program. My background is in ICU and cath lab. I have been the charge nurse in the cath lab for about 3 years. I plan to stay there PRN while teaching. I am working on my MSN in nursing education. I am very excited about new role. I enjoyed my role as clinical instructor but am thrilled to transition to the classroom as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, to all of the seasoned faculty out there, never forget how important of a role you play in the future of nursing!
  3. In Kentucky you have to have a MOI (Methods of Instruction) certification to teach CNA classes. I am not sure if this differs from state to state.
  4. I understand your situation. I am applying to grad school as well and am also trying to figure out how to approach my manager for a recommendation, as well as let her know that I plan on going part-time. I have heard through the grapevine that she does not react well to these types of situations. I work in cath lab and it is very time consuming to hire/train someone to the level where they can function independently. I plan on starting classes in the fall and plan on letting her know within the next month so that she will have time to plan accordingly but I am very apprehensive. I think part of this comes from many nurses innate fear of disappointing someone else. How many times have we sacrificed what we what due to this fear? Good luck with your mangaer. Let me know how it turns out. By the way, my husband tells me that my manager cannot hold this against me, I have an excellent jop record etc. However, we do work in the real world where things that shouldn't happen often happen.
  5. I am planning on starting in USI's ACNP program in the Fall. It would be nice to hear other's experiences in the area, both positive and negative.
  6. I have enjoyed reading countless forums on this site for a couple of years but this is my first posting. I am applying to USIs ACNP program and was hoping someone could share with me any personal experience with this program. Also are there any NPs in KY that could share with me what their experience has been like? Thanks!
