Hello Everyone!!
I am having a REALLY hard time finding CNA classes. I want to work as one before going into NS in the spring while I take prereq's. Are there any classes for free? If not, where do you recommend going? Are LTC facilities a good choice? I am sorry, I am so clueless
Any help is much appreciated.

I am signed up to attend Ivy Tech's summer CNA course. Mine is on Tuesday and Thursday from 800am to 430pm. It runs from the end of May until the first or second week in July. It's 5 credit hours at around $91.00/hour. I have heard that some free CNA courses are awful. That's why I decided to take mine at Ivy Tech. I'm also finishing up my pre req's for the nursing program there. There may still be a couple seats available. The course title is HHS 101. Hope this helps. Email me if you need anything else, I'd love to have class with you this summer! :)

Alot of employment agencies such as R&R offer CNA classes that cost about 150.00. After 6 mos of employment they refund your 150.00. . Our hospital has started only hiring from agencies for CNA work.
When i became a CNA the hospital I work for had its own class, it cost 50.00 and lasted 2 weeks. 40 total hours. After 6 mos if you were still employed by the hospital they gave you your 50.00 back.
Call your local hospitals HR and ask how to go about it for your town, they will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
:up:These are great suggestions!! I did try to sign up for Ivy Tech's CNA program but it's full She did say to try the registrar and maybe they know of an opening.
I will try calling around and see who offers what. I don't know if our hospitals offer training, that is something to look into!

The LTC places around here offer free CNA classes but you have to sign an agreement to work for them for a certain length of time after you graduate......or else you owe them cash for the course.
Good luck.
Do you know which LTC facilities do?
Thanks :)
Golden Living and Garden Villa.
Thank you! I will try those out :)
No Problem. Good luck!

LedZep, also, if you are a current nursing student with a C or better in Fundamentals, you can forego CNA classes and just take the state exam. With this option, you are not required to take the skills portion of the exam. You only have to take the written test.
