CNA class and BIO201/205 homework load

Hi all - 2 questions ...

CNA: Can anyone give me an indication of the homework load I can expect in the CNA (daytime) classes via the Maricopa community colleges? I understand the classes are generally 8-2:30, M-Th, but what sort of time commitment is needed for homework / labs, etc.? Is it feasible to maintain a FT class load, in addition to the CNA 6-week course?

BIO201/205: Has anyone taken these classes simultaneosly? Is the workload substantial or doable? 2-3 hours / day? Observations welcome ...

Thanks!

OOOh, ouch. I don't think I would keep a full time class load in addition to CNA. CNA classes however were pretty stressful for me just in the experience. Homework was no biggie. Probably could be done though...especially if you already work in the medical field and know some of it or have more patient contact.

There is another post concerning BIO 202 and Micro together. General consensus is Don't do it. If you are talking about taking these with CNA I would say definitly don't do it. If you work part time and have gobs of time to study then you can take both at the same time. BIO 202 is alot of info to get internalized, the same with Micro. I loved Micro though!!

I will be in the CNA this spring and I have heard that you have very little homework but that its time consuming information. I am now in the accelerated Bio 201/202 classes and I am doing well- but it is ALOT of work. I spend hours and hours reviewing my notes etc. Bio 202 is also alot of info and I dont think I would take Bio 201/202 with Micro. Unless, you have no job, no kids etc. My Cna class is only one day a week for lecture from 1-3:45 and then one day for clinical from 1-9:30 and the class end in 3 1/2 months so I will take Micro accelerated with that. Good luck.

I am taking them together. Don't do it. If I could go back and do it again I wouldn't take them together, even if it delayed my application to nursing school. It is alot of work and I am doing mine online at Rio so I don't even have to attend classes. And I can easily spend 2 hours a day studying and need (want) more time. There is so much information to learn it is unbelievable. I like the classes but .....

The CNA class I took was VERY easy. I did not do ANY studying/outside reading, and passed with 98%. My friends had similar experiences.

I took 201/205 simultaneously and it was somewhat challenging, but certainly not impossible, and I wouldn't discourage others from doing it. Just know how to balance and manage your time wisely. I also took them through Rio. I got a B in both classes. I just don't recommend taking both AND the core nursing class (which I did for the first 3 weeks of fall semester).
