Clinicals

Ive had two exams in clinicals and FAILED! First exam was cause of family issues. I was not able to study well.second exam i studied my butt off. I used all our required text books to study. I used fundamental success to do practice exams and i also googled some. I feel so discouraged and depressed. I have two exams left to get no lower than 90 and a final to pass this course. Failing is not an option.

I am here for advice on studying techniques and other resources to pass this course. Passing grade is 75. Course average for the whole group is 74.

Our next exam is on the older adult(healthy and hospitalized), elimination and fluids.

Please help.

I don't have a magic formula but here is my .02. Study everyday and study the old material too because they all build on each other. Review all lecture/req. reading 7 times before the exam, the first time before the lecture. Know how you learn (visual, audio) and use it. Talk with your instructor to learn from your mistakes and get hints from them.

Thank you. Will try reading more than three times

I think reading more than 3 times is overkill. If you haven't picked it up by the third time reading it, you aren't going to pick it up on the 7th. More than likely, you'll just get burned out. I would suggest a study group (2-3 other people at the most). Talk through questions, teach each other the material, talk through lecture notes, etc.

Get yourself to your advisor and ask for extra help. You might be studying wrong for your learning style. Does your school have a resource person who can help you study smarter instead of harder? Find out who that is and get in there ASAP.

I got a Test Success book for Nursing Students..i will follow the method they suggested for studying. They suggested reading the chapters before class and the same day after class or a day after. Im also going to try the study groups. I believe my way of reading wasnt sufficient. The book also suggested getting articles from journals based on the topic being covered.

Thanks for ur input

will keep u guys posted on my next grade and if the new methods worked
