Clep Courses

Published

Hello,

I currently work as an LPN. (For 2 years) I kind of started by career as a nurse backwards. I worked in corrections and am now in home heath care. Let me tell you, your best bet is working in a LTC FACILITY OR HOSPITAL after GETTING YOUR LPN, but I live in S. Florida (this may happen all over) but the hospitals want at least a year of experience in a hospital setting. Well, duh how do you get it? So, anyway, I am interested in clepping out of some prerequisites, like the math, chemistry, composition. Does anyone know anything about clepping out? Then, I was interested in the I Study Smart program which allows you to study for all your nursing courses, then take examinations, perform the clinicals and apply to take the NCLEX. Kind of expensive, but convenient. Does anyone know anything about the clepping out and have any advice on doing homehealth? I am really learning alot, just don't have the hospital experience with catheters, G-tubes, blood draws, IV's, etc. I primarily do wound care, CV/CP assessments and injections. I am getting acquainted with the wound wav system as well. Any advise would be appreciated. Also, one more question. I have had several nurses tell me that after you open a bottle of normal saline, you must refrigerate it, and keep for 7 days, then discard it. Then some nurses say they have never heard of that. What are your thoughts on that as well? Thanks for your help!!!

I just graduated from LPN school last month and it sounds like you are talking about http://www.excelsior.edu. Check the distance learning thread for more information. I took Clep Human Growth and will be Clepping Sociology very soon. It is more convenient then sitting in a class again. You don't have to go through Istudysmart. They will not grant you a degree. Excelsior College will.

Congrats!!! I was told by I Study Smart that I would have to enroll in Excelsior College, that is where the degree comes from. But you pay I SS for the courses, exams, pay the college 4500. All in all with textbook and exams and courses, and of course clinical fees the ASN is Aaround 12000 13k. I am clepping out of a few courses at the community college where I live. They are a lot less expensive, then apply for whatever grant money I can get. Where do you plan on working? Good Luck. Let me know about the Excelsior!!! Jennifer Freeman
