Hi hi,

I'm planning on attending Citrus College starting this summer (the advanced placement thingee).

If you are currently attending or have attended Citrus College, I'm eager to hear your opinions of the school/program, what I can expect, etc.

Thanks!

Ah, are you planning on enrolling in one of the nursing programs there, or just taking your prerequisites at Citrus?

I do like the feel of the school, based on the few times I had to go there. I really do love the location of it with those mountains so close to the north!

I am indeed doing the bridge thing (which they call "advanced placement"- maybe to make the applicants have a sense of superiority? I dunno).

I was hoping to get more feedback from current/recent students as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot here (I know there's a big thread on the VN program, but wanted to get specific feedback for the RN program).

I did look up some of the teachers on ratemyprofessors.com and the one I'll be taking this summer isn't filling me with the greatest of confidence, but I'm sure I'll manage. It's not that I'm not going to attend (at least nothing has compelled me to so far), but I like to be prepared for all possibilities.

Thanks for your input and best of luck to you on your career path :)

So Advanced Placement students start soon? I got into the RN program and everything starts August 29th, 2011.

OkieDokie (love that name: I actually say it aloud often :D ):

Advanced Placement grubs start in the middle of 2nd and 3rd semesters of the standard RN program, so technically it's a late start, but we do have to take a bridge class in July (if Wingspan is to be believed).

Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck in your program!

Thanks, yellow_p :D

Congratulations to you, too!

I figure you had already attended orientation for Advanced Placement students since you know when your class starts. RN accepted and alternate students are to attend orientation this Friday, I believe. If I find some recent/current students and what they have to say, then I'll let you know.

Sorry if I sounded confusing.

I go there for pre reqs.

Schools great.

And so far from the nursing students there, they tell me its a great program.

Oh, you were clear when you said "I dont go to the RN program but i attend the school!" so no need to be sorry.

I like the atmosphere and surroundings of Citrus College and will be looking forward to the program.

Hope you get in when you apply.

OkieDokie:

I actually will be attending the orientation this Friday with my peers, and I found out about the class just by snooping around the Citrus/Wingspan website (because I have absolutely NO life whatsoever :D).

And thanks :)

BBH: No, not confusing. I actually did most of my prerequisites at ELAC but decided not to apply to the nursing program there for a variety of reasons.

Awesome, we might be able to see one another there. Orientation must have a bunch of people then....and I better start snooping around WingSpan.

In regards to your ELAC comment, I think that is a good decision to not apply there. Obviously, crime is one of the reasons.

By the way, where is everyone living? I am coming from outside the area and don't know where to reside. I am looking at renting a room near Citrus or possibly looking at student apartments if Citrus has them. I don't know my living arrangement yet, unfortunately.

Hmm Glendora is a nice area. I am almost positive (since I attend there) that citrus doesnt have housing. There are a lot of little apartments around. I always see posts around campus from students looking for roommates. Maybe you two could get an apartment and split rent?

As for ELAC, crime is a factor but also their NCLEX pass rate is in the 60'si had a friend do half of her pre reqs there and said the teachers weren't hard on them. When she attended the other half of her pre reqs at citrus she said that ELAC pre reqs were middle school level compared to citruses. Luckily I am taking my pre reqs at citrus and they teach at practically at a cal state level.

It really prepares me for what's going to be ahead when I apply to csulb.

Maybe that's why ELAC's rating so low? I don't know but I wouldn't attend their nursing program .
