Checking your own records with the state

I have checked my record with the state that I live in.

I was wondering if there is any way of checking your records from other states you

have lived in during years past and how many years back they are available.

Can an employer look into your job history from another state from years ago

if they want to?

Employers get records checking firms to do this checking for them.

Hi Sadie;

Just about any reputable company will do a background check on their employees, especially in the nursing field. And yes they do have the ability to find out where you have worked in the past, no matter if it was out of state or even out of the country.

Most state government websites have online databases where you can look things up for free. Just go look at the website for every state you have worked in, if you're concerned about what might be on your record.
