Charting

I understand the importance of charting but it is my least favorite part of nursing. What type of nursing has the least amount of charting involved?

Unfortunately.....charting is your legal protection against being sued. Nurses document, Case managers document, Doctors document. Surgeons document. CRNA's document. Everyone documents. Everyone documents. Documentation is imperative for reimbursement.

What is it you dislike so much?

You will never escape paperwork or charting. Some places have better charting systems, some have you documenting the same stuff multiple times.

All aspects of nursing require some type of documentation.

When (not if) you have experienced any type of issue (lawsuit, sentinel event, patient complaint, performance issue, etc) that requires a scrutiny of your charting, you will have an entirely different perspective. I certainly did.
