I applied to CSU East Bay and SF as undeclared. I wanted to know if I could change my major to pre-nursing once I get in? At the time I had applied I wasn't sure of what major I wanted to apply in.

As far as I know you can always change your major. Lots of people go from one major to another while deciding what to do. I'd give the registrar's office a call to ask how to do it, but it's usually just a small form to fill out. Good luck!

You can declare your major at anytime. Call your school on Monday :) Good luck

You would have to check with your adviser. Usually pre-nursing as a major changes from school to school (my last college didn't have it, it was nursing or not, and my current one has pre-nursing, nursing). There may be requirements to change it, such as some schools require a minimum GPA before you can declare a major like that (my school required that for business, nursing, pre-med, pre-pa, pre-law, pre-nursing, etc) So best thing to do is check.

Most schools have a selective admissions process for medical majors such as nursing, radiology, dental hygiene.. Meaning you need pre-reqs to get into those majors where an undeclared doesn't require them. I had the same question as I am technically in an AA: General concentration program right now but once my pre reqs are complete I am applying to nursing. I would check with your admissions office. Good luck

You can always switch majors. People do it all the time! Your major will be pre-nursing, meaning you need to complete all the prerequisite work and apply to the nursing program at your school before you can be declared a nursing major.

As PPs have stated, changing your major is easy. But keep in mind that there is absolutely no sure connection between a declared "pre-nursing" major and acceptance to an actual nursing program - LOL. That's why a lot of schools refer to the major as simply "health science" or some such term because many health care professions require the same basic set of pre-reqs.
Once you complete your pre-reqs, you will have to apply to the nursing program, even if it is in the same school. They may give preference to current students, but don't count on it. You'll probably be competing with lots of other high-achievers trying for admission to the same few slots.
Work hard and max that GPA!
