chances of getting in? :(

Published

I feel like I have no chance of getting into my nursing program..I was wondering if anyone by any chance had similar grades or knows someone who does who got in or didnt get in.

I only got a C in anatomy 1 (i took it as a summer class, worst thing I ever did :/) and a C+ in organic chemistry. This is why i believe I have no chance at all. I got a B in microbiology and an A in general chemistry. I also got an A in both general and child psych. All of my other grades are As but I havent taken anatomy 2 or physics yet (they wont be judging those grades because ill be applying before I complete them). My overall GPA is a 3.47, but my science average is way lower obviously and I heard thats the most important. I got an 82 on my TEAS.

I know it completely depends on all the people entering and what there grades are, I was just wondering what other people thought and if you guys know anyone who was in my situation?

thanks :(

You can always try private schools? In some private schools the grade in the course doesn't matter as long as you pass with a C.

A 2.5 GPA is required for most. Try doing research on private schools :)

I don't like your odds. Your sci GPA is just too low, but the good news is that spring is easier to get into then fall, so be sure to crush those last two sciences and if you can take the teas again.

Of course if your sci GPA meets the min req (usually a 3.0, but I am not sure what your +/- GPA is) APPLY! You never know how the admissions committee is gong to view your application, and besides the fee you got nothing to lose.

I do know students that made it into schools with a 2.5 cut off with your stats, and there are some state schools that have that cutoff.

Good luck.

I am really anal about my grades. The first time I took A&P II, I was getting a C and I dropped it. Retook it, got an A. My program requires a C or better. If you are able too, try to retake it if you feel like you could do better. Some may think that its a waste of time, but if it's on your mind that much, like it was mine, retake it.

I would apply anyways, the worst that can happen is they say NO, and you try again.

Well, I had a C in AP1 and a C in Chem....and DID NOT GET IN...I say try anyway you never know.

You would not believe the competition to nursing school these days. Get into the mindset of getting the highest grade possible, because there are many many others who are already doing that. Case in point when you see average GPAs of entering classes above 3.5 being the norm.
