Chamberlain - Advice?

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a nursing program that's pretty easy to get into, without a long wait in the St Louis area. I don't want to sacrifice a good education or possibly ruining future jobs prospects though. I've read through a lot of the posts about Chamberlain and I'm having mixed feelings. Can any current students and/or people in the admission process tell me more about the school and their experience with it so far?

Also - from the site it says

A minimum ACT composite score of 21, minimum SAT critical reading and mathematics reasoning (CR-M) score of 990, or minimum A2 Admission Assessment score of 75.

I have not taken the ACT/SAT, does this mean I would only have to take the A2?

I am starting the BSN on-site program in March. I just finished the whole application and admission process. I did not take the SAT/ACT either. If you havent taken one of those then you must take the A2 test. It wasnt that bad. I have been out of school for 9 years so I did need to study the math portion but I can say it wasnt too terribly hard. You will also have to give them a copy of your highschool transcripts. I believe you need a minimum GPA of 2.5 or something like that. The entire process isnt that bad. If you have other questions let me know

Oops I posted twice on accident

I was wondering a lot about Chamberlain as well, I have everything ready to be sent off and make me applying there official... But just have not done it yet. I am a little concerned about them taking my pre-reqs as well!

I heard that they dont accept alot of transfers so you may want to sit down with an advisor just to make sure you are on the right path as far as Pre-reqs gol. They want you to have a specific class in order for them to accept your transfers. I am doing the full 3 years for the on-site BSN in St. Louis. I dont have any pre-reqs but my school is completely paid for by the military so cost is not an option for me. I do know that they are very expensive if cost is a determaining factor for you so if you can take classes at a CC I would suggest that, just make sure they will transfer so you dont waste your time and money.

Good luck with everything!!

A Chamberlain adviser finally called me today, and I am meeting with her Friday. She immediately recognized the school I was already attending from the email address I had used to request info. She asked me a few question, and seemed to think I was a good candidate, I think she was surprised (good surprised) when I told her my GPA though, not sure why, maybe most students have a lower GPA when coming from my school?! I do have a few questions for her I will be writing down to take with me. I am hoping I will get loans to help cover what Pell will not so not overly worried about cost either.

Thats great news. Are you going to be attending the St. Louis On-site BSN program? I havent seen many post on here for the STL location. Good luck with the loans and Pell Grants. I am hoping to qualify for Pell Grants as well to help me out financially. I am quitting work to focus on School so I am really nervous about how we will afford everything on 1 income but We'll have to struggle for a while in order to live more comfortably in the future..I hope!

I am applying to the on site BSN program, I am also applying at GSON for the upper division BSN :) Elizabeth was the person who called me. :) Pell grants are great, my husband and I both get them. He also gets his GI Bill (which took forever to get started!!). Unfortunately the Pell will not cover the tuition completely for me, so I will need a loan!

Yeah, I hear ya about the GI Bill taking forever. I turned in my paperwork on Aug 6th in order to get my certificate of eligibility. I still do not have it and it is 6th months later. Chamberlain also will not send any paperwork to the VA until you have been there for 3 weeks so they can make sure you dont drop from school. So once they turn that in who knows how long the VA will take to process my payments :banghead: Thank goodness it is tax time. I was also informed we should not use specific names of employees at the school. They edited my last post and took out my admissions rep's name....ooops Take care

Hey all, I am an on-site STL BSN student, about 4 weeks out from finishing my Fundamentals class...this is my third semester at Chamberlain. Overall, I have been pleased with my experience. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. And to those who are applying, I don't know if they mentioned it to you but we are relocating to Westport in March.......it sounds like it's going to be really nice/state of the art.

Hi everyone, im new to this website. I've already been accepted to the STL Chamberlain campus for the onsite BSN progam. and after reading through a lot of the post on this website, i have became very skeptical of the program. Is it a good program to get into? I understand it is a little pricey but is that the only bad side to this school? Also i have been having trouble getting an advisor or representative to contact me back. What should i do?

I have not had any issues with my adviser contacting me back, sometimes she may be a little slower than I like hehe but no issue. One thing to keep in mind right now is they are finishing up their big move! Classes started yesterday at the new campus. If you are using an old phone number, you are not going to have much luck, since they all got new phone numbers at the new campus so I would try email.

The information I have seen that is negative is usually not directed towards the STL campus, you have to remember too, that people who have negative experiences tend to spread it around, where the rest of the people who are happy are too busy working as nurses! hehe :)

Congrats on getting accepted! Were you accepted for Summer or Fall?? I am applying for fall, and go to take my Hesi tomorrow evening! My cousin was accepted for Summer! :)
