CGFNS question

Hi ,I am RN graduated in Bulgaria. I live in IL. Does anyone know which service I need to choose from CGFNS for credential evaluation service (CES) - RN Initial Licensure or RN Endorsement? Thank you very much!

Have you already registered in another state and passed NCLEX? If not then it will be initial registration

No , I'm not. I will be applying for first time and I didn't pass NCLEX . So I have to apply for RN Initial Licensure. Thank you very much!

You need to first obtain your RN license before you can start the CGFNS service. Good luck with your NCLEX.

No. She needs to follow the instructions from the Board of Nursing in Illinois and apply as a foreign grad via CGFNS for the initial RN licensure. She will go through CGFNS first before being able to be eligible to take NCLEX.

Yes, I think I will receive RN licensure when I apply via CGFNS , then I need to take Toefl exam and NCLEX. Thank you!

Ah, sorry I didn’t read the OP’s post right. I thought she was educated in the US and failed her NCLEX. Good to know the process is different for nurses from other countries.

You will not receive a RN license when you apply to CGFNS. They are just a part of the process. It is only once everything has been assessed and you pass NCLEX will you get confirmation that you meet requirements, not all states will issue a license unless you have a US SSN
