CEUs on resume?

Is it acceptable to put CEUs on a resume?

Specializes in ER, TRAUMA, MED-SURG.

Not unless there is a special reason to. I am not one who uses words like "never" and "always" very much. But I would think that the occasions for which it would be appropriate to put CEU's on a resume would be rare.

But I can imagine a few such cases. For example, you might be applying for a job in a specific specialty or that requires specific knowledge/skills that are not normally covered by your academic education -- and for which you don't have previous work experience. It might improve your chances of being notices as a candidate if you can show that you went to a workshop in that field and/or have some sort of certificate or certification in that field.

However, there would be no benefit in listing routine CEU's or CNE in most cases -- and it might just make you look bad, as if you were trying to pad your resume with stuff that didn't belong there.

I saw it on a nursing resume template, and I thought it looked weird. I thought any special classes were discussed in an interview.
