Certifications after CNA?

I'm currently getting my cna and doing prereqs for a nursing program at a community college. I can't find a way to finish both my Human a&p courses before June 15th, so I won't be able to start the technical nursing program until a year from this January.

I want to know if there are any other certifications I can get so I am able to do more and gain more experience in the healthcare setting. Any ideas? Thanks!

CPR there are not many additional certifications associated with CNA. Once experienced working in LTC some states permit CNA's to be certified as a med tech to assist with passing medication.

Some CNA's in a hospital setting seek EMT cert to work as an ED tech or phlebotomy or ECG cert to work as a patient care tech. EMT is pretty standard. Phlebotomy not so much and only two states require phlebotomy cert to perform the skill (99% sure it's CA & LA)

Dialysis Tech.

In some areas dialysis techs are very much in demand and the pay is a little more than LTC.

Around here, the dialysis facilities will provide the on they job training but you must complete and pass within a certain time frame (within reason, of course)in order to continue employement.

I am finishing my CNA this month and have the state test next month. I have to wait until next fall for an acute care class that is offered to cna's that I can take while working on pre reqs. I am not sure if they offer a class like that where you live but you can look into that. I plan on working per deim in a hospital so that when I do graduate a nursing program I have acute care experience. I live in California so it is very competitive here.
