I wonder how they happened to settle at stopping the tests at age 65. God forbid a 13 year old should be found positive, but I'm sure it happens. We had a situation at work a couple years ago, a mother called us to report that her 18 year old had tested positive at his doctor's office and was referred to the Title V program to fund his treatment. He hadn't told her anything about it. This program typically send letters to the parents of younger children to let them know their treatment (they cover a number of conditions other than HIV status, which is probably their least common dx)has been approved, but someone messed up addressed this letter to the mother. This is how she found out her was HIV+. Can you imagine?
