Specializes in Case Management.

I just took my CCM exam last Friday. I was notified I passed by the computer after the test was completed but I do not get "official" results until January or February. I would highly stress getting the CCM certification as it proves that your bark has bite. The test is very broad and tests you on many concepts of case management. The above post is correct, you cannot just test into a case management career. You need AT LEAST 2 years of CM experience before you can test but I would recommend more as many of the concepts cannot be studied for and must be learned over time. I would recommend getting with a nurse manager and setting up a career goal with her. If you have any more questions please ask away! Good Luck!

You do need to work under a Case Manager for a year or more before testing. I sat for the test last year but didn't find it so difficult. I also studied the "study guide" and did fine. My official results came about 2-3 wks after the test.

Apply for a job with a managed care or insurance company and go from there...good luck.
