Yeah, it does sound about right. If you take some additional science classes, at least you won't have to buy the microscope again. Be sure to check out Amazon for books, I rarely buy brand new. It's the out of state tuition that kills you, are there any local colleges that offer online classes where you are at?

I have done all my sciences online and I absolutely love them! The AP and micro labs are cool!

I live in californi and so far have not came across any online courses that are nationally or regionally accredited.

Yep, those costs are about right.

And, they are accredited classes through the Community Colleges of Colorado. I took microbiology through CCC online and was very pleased with it and it did saitisfy my prereq requirement for my BSN program.

I had similar concerns but this is a regionally accredited online system that pools students from all Colorado State Community Colleges. The reason why these courses meet prerequisite requirements is because they have a built-in lab component. You will receive a lab kit (bio or chem) with your course and you will actually perform lab assignments at home, from dissections to titrating chemicals.

I took chemistry from ccconline and all BSN nursing programs I applied to would have accepted the course.

Did you apply to RN programs in the state of "Colorado" also? Or were they out in differnt states?

I just emailed my schools admisssions department so hopefully I get an answer tomorrow. My email

consisted of links to the course listings and accreditation page of the school.

Yep, it is a little more expensive but theyare so fair. I took statitistics through CCCon-line and really appreciated their system. You can test twice and take the best.

Great news. I spoke with my Nursing program here in California and they stated it was "Acceptable" as long as each class consist of 4 units each, which they are! Yeeee! im so happy about that.

Im having my transcripts from my LVN program sent over to them as we speak and then I have to schedule a proctor to take the "assessment" test for math and english.

Does anyone know how the mid-terms and finals will be at ccconline? are they proctored also or open book?

When I did CCConline classes, It was based on homework and assessments, they were not proctored...but things could have changed in 3 years. I take my ADN to BSN classes through WGU and some classes are Test based and are proctored while others are just competency based and are homework only. Such as essays, research papers, powerpoints etc..

It depends on the class whether they have mid-terms or finals. Quite often it's just labs, lab tests, unit quizzes and discussions, maybe a paper. I think I had only one or two classes with finals, one being algebra. ALL exams are open book online. But, one small note...just because the classes are online, don't expect them to be easier than in class ones. There may not be memorization, but instead you might get an essay having to EXPLAIN how something works.

Good for you and good luck with your classes, I think you're going to really like them!

Maybe we can make this a "sticky" since alot of people are interested in CCConline.org.

I forgot to mention that the grade is transferred as pass or fail. Like if you got an A in class, it won't help your GPA. Still, you get to knock off required classes in a few weeks.

Violets,

Are you still talking about ccconline? That sounds like CLEP to me, with a pass or fail. As far as I know, ccconline classes transfer their grades, not just P/F. Also, the minimum a ccconline class can be is 7.5 weeks in the 'half' semester, not a few weeks.

Just asking for clarification...
