Caution taking supplements?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find any specific threads. I'm considering starting a supplement/protein drink from Herbalife but am nervous that it will cause a false positive on my uds. I don't know of any research that says it will affect my test, but this program has made me nso leery to take anything. I think many of us feel this way.

Have any of you had any luck with supplements that are safe to take during monitoring? Just curious. Part of me wants to just err on the side of caution & not risk it, but I figured it didn't hurt to ask. Thanks everyone :)

Good advice here. I took supplements, but I was very careful and read labels thoroughly. It depends on your contract with the monitoring organization, and what the terms are. Cover your behind and read for specific prohibited substances. I would also send an ingredient list of any supplement (especially blended supplements) to my case manager.

I send pictures of everything to my monitor - my mouth after dental work, my shoulder after surgery, my restaurant receipt after I accidentally ate some Greek cheese thing that was doused in alcohol, pictures of my test requisitions when the results don't get posted (which actually just saved my butt due to lab screwing up). I guess I do the opposite of staying under the radar.. lol I would rather just be on the safe side. My hope is it will look like I'm trying very hard to be compliant when I request a drop in stips.

Smart!!! I keep all the receipts from my pee tests but so far so good

I sent you a PM StillRN, not sure if you got it?

You can call and ask the director of the program. I've thought about that... are we allowed to use mouthwash? I just thought of that today...

Many mouthwashes contain alcohol so you need to avoid those.
