Career concerns

Hello guys

As I grown up, I've really wanted to get an honorable job in my life.

I graduated from South Korea nursing colleges and immigrated 1.5 years ago. And really wanted to become a member of US army nursing Corp ( reserve force).

So I decided to get a BSN degree ( accredited ) and its working on.

But one thing I concerned is that

I'm now working as in oncology & hematology clinic.

In my thoughts, US army nursing Corp is not that much related to oncology & hematology part.

So, I work on the med/surg unit on a weekly basis ( weekend ).

if I applied on the US army reserve force as a nursing officer, is there any problem with my career?

Lots of people are able to make both jobs work.  What are your long term goals?  What do you hope to get out of it?

No not all. And they won’t have you stay medsurg for long either from what I hear. Part of promoting within the army is changing you area of concentration, think of medsurg as entry level.

To answer your question, I am a Periop Nurse in the Army but a dialysis nurse civilian. Now I do feel like some AOCs require that you keep your skills fresh, like you have to have experience signed off every now and then (a recruiter told me that roles like critical care and trauma are like that) however I cannot attest to how true that is.
