I am currently taking my core classes for nursing and I am trying to figure out the best way. I am thinking about getting my LPN then bridging to RN. I thought that might be good so I could get some experience and make sure I like it. But, then I am getting to old to be in school so maybe I better just go for RN. Do any of you regret doing LPN? I have an appointment with my adviser in April to compare the two options. I would really appreciate any tips I can get!
Thanks,

I don't regret becoming an LPN. It was a good way to go for me as I needed to start making money. And actually, I really love my job and am kind of wondering if I want to get my RN.
It will take me longer to get my RN, but if your worried about age and school, alot of people in my LPN class were in their 50s and planning on getting their RN afterwards.
Thanks for your response. That's great that you love your job! It also make me feel better that there are actually so many people older than me going to school. I am 38, we'll 39 this year. I have twins that are 4 and a 3 yr old so I need to get done with school soon and get money coming in. I just hope that I make the right decision! :thankya:
Thank you,

do rn if you can. more pay and more "respect." i don't regret becoming an lpn first as it helped get me where i am now and i was making good money already as an lpn. what i regret is not doing the bsn right away after high school in spite of my mom pushing me to do nursing. i did computer science instead and now i am still working on my bsn after 10 years of graduating from h.s.

Thanks for your opinion. I think RN is what I will try for, because of the time issue. It is so competitive, I just hope that I can do it. I am very determined, so if I do my best hopefully that will get me there!

Well, I'm just a nursing student, but I hear tons of nurses (of all levels) say that the best nurses start as LVNs and work their way up. :) HTH.
