Hello. I have a question for anyone educated outside the U.S. regarding admission to excelsior college. If one were educated at a hospital diploma RN program in Canada, does Excelsior accept those credits earned in that program? ie: incorporated a&p, micro, etc. Also, credits for gen. Ed. courses taken at a university there? Hoping someone may have experienced something similar and post their experiences.
I have also emailed Excelsior directly (nothing back yet).
Thanks

Try calling the admissions office. They have pretty helpful and knowledgable the only program I know that they do not accept international credits for us the LPN/RT/medic to ASN pre-licensure program. If I recall correctly, transcript evaluation will determine what credits if any are accepted. In addition you need a US RN license, as 30 credits are granted for passing the NCLEX-RN

I know some US BoN's treat Canadian RNs differently than other IENs (I think VA & PA are two) due to some similarities in our nursing eduction and protocols.
Thanks Beachy. I will call if I don't get a response from them via email. I'm asking for my wife who went to a hospital based diploma RN program. Hopefully they take the credits she earned. She's been an RN in the U.S. for 15 years.
Looks like from the degree requirements (second link) most of the credits for nursing are issued s. result of passing the NCLEX-RN. Good luck

I completed an LPN program in Canada and they took all of my credits. I think some may have to be no older than 5 years.. i.e. A&P.. but EC is very very helpful.
Good luck!
