i heard that in the states they dont allow nurses to work in the postnatal field if they're not specialized in it?? is it true?? im recently working as a srn in one of the postnatal ward in singapore. for us at every shift we'd have a mixture of midwives, midwives rn n general trained srns.

If you are an RN or and LPN or the equivalent I don't see why you could not work in labour and delivery, post-natal, or newborn nursery in the USA? They aren't usually staffed by midwives over there but by registered nurses.

Agreed. Our postnatal units are staffed by nurses, not midwifes.
