Call as a np? Compensate or not?

I am In Negotiations for a Ent position and I am going to be on call every other week and will be getting paid 85000 plus 1000 for call is this too little? Considering I will be on call 1/2 the year ?

I do call every 5th weekend from 7am to 7pm on Sat/Sun and for that I get paid an additional $6000. I live in the midwest.

I don't know if this is relevant, but in my recent previous life as a medical technologist, I was paid $3.00 an hour for being on call. It might be helpful to calculate the number of hours per year you'd be on call, and multiply it by an acceptable hourly rate to see what a reasonable figure is. $1000 seems like it would fall far short. Just my 2 cents......

It really depends on what is involved. If you are available but only get 1 call per week and don't have to go in then thats reasonable. If you get 4-5 calls per night then its not. If you have to go in when you get called definitely not.

Is it inpatient or outpatient only? Do you admit to your own service or to the hospitalist and are just there for backup? How needy are the patients. Q2 call is hard. I did it for a year and got a lot more than $1000 (try that per week of call).

it is Mainly triage from the phone I don't have to go in for any reason and would call my physician if she has to go in for a bleed etc I would not take any er call just office

Then it comes down to volume. If its 5-10 per night then thats not enough. If its 1 per week its fine. You need to define the call volume and when they come. Calls after midnight are worth more than calls during awake time in my opinion.
