Hello everyone!
I am new to this board and very excited to be here. I have been a lpn for over twenty years at the same hospital. I was wondering what incentives some of you get for coming in to work on your day off. Thanks for any help you can give me.

My workplace offers absolutely no incentives for working extra shifts. There are no call-in bonuses, double time, or any goodies being offered for coming in on your day off to work extra. Rather, they simply pay time-and-a-half for anything over 40 hours per work week. If you've worked less than 40 hours during that particular week, you receive straight time.
In addition, my workplace does not pay PRN staff higher hourly rates.
Wow my offer is pretty good I guess then. They are offer two dollars more an hour then of course time and a half for all over 40. The thing is they have just started offer RNs an outrageous amount of money for extra shifts. Our lpns are kind of upset that we didn't get a better incentive also for coming in. The answer we got is that they don't "need" lpns right now. This is strange to me since I have been asked to work three times this week and I am on vacation. We don't expect RN pay for working extra just a little better incentive.

My hospital has bonus shifts you can sign up for. They offer an additional $10/hr for LPNs, and $20/hr for RNs. Also of course if it is over your 40 hrs a week you get time and half in addition. If your bonus shift is by working a double you get time and a half over 8 hours and then double time for any hours over 12, and then if you work the next day you get time and half for the first 4 hours. Pretty sweet... Some RN's can practially make my whole paycheck in one day by doing that....
