Hi all!

I am currently an RN in CA and I just can't take living in this state anymore. I want to move NC but not sure if I can get a license in another state. My license is current and unrestricted. I never did probation, I got a Public Reproval and paid fines for a DUI. Anyone moved to another state and were successful in getting a license and a job?

Thank you all!

Not sure of your situation, but maybe contact he BON in NC?

My situation is different. I was licensed in AZ, was revoked, moved to TX and 15 yr later, decided to endorse here. It is allowed, but not without TPAPN and a permanent mark on license (which would have happened anyway, due to revocation in AZ).

Good luck!

I will tell you, having come from NC and being under contract there, they may not give you a license. I transferred my license to Florida from NC and when I did my caseworker told me that NC is no longer accepting nurses under contract from other states. Im not sure why your not being monitored in CA if you had a DUI? You will have to disclose your DUI in your application, and it will come up when they run the background check. I suggest just applying and see what happens. Whatever you do, don't surrender your CA license. It's very hard to get back if you do.

Hi there! I have no idea how I got so lucky but I never did Diversion Program and was never monitored. I submitted a large Reference package with all the work I’ve done since the DUI plus about 20 references. I had to be mentally and physically evaluated and the Dr agreed to no monitoring. Of course, I have the permanent mark on my license but it is unrestricted and never had to do drug testing

Hello, I just read your post and am in a similar situation. I, too, am interested in relocating to NC and unsure how to answer some of their application questions about whether I have ever been involved in an Alternative to Discipline program. I don't want to be dishonest but then again I don't want to disclose anything I'm not required to. About me: I just completed a monitoring program in Illinois and my representative from the Board of Nursing here told me that my participation in the program doesn't get disclosed to anyone. The program was non-punitive and confidential and my license is current and restricted. I don't want to answer the application questions incorrectly and then get myself involved in years of additional drug screens and reports. I'm eager to hear what happened with you. Thanks!
