CA license...

Ei guys... i have some questions regarding the Califronia nursing license.. iv heard that they would not release the licens unless you personally appear to acquire it. and that the license will be revoked if not acquired within 3yrs, and that i wud have to take the nclex once again.. is this true???

if it is then i have a huge problem!!! you see, im from the phil and acquiring a US visa is really difficult with the retrogression and all.. so wat are my options???

a friend told me that i cud endorse it to another state which would release a license even without personal appearance.. i would just have to submit my certificate that i passed the nclex.. is this possible??? Help!!!!!!!:o

Moved your thread to the International Forum since your question is specific to foreign nurses.

There is no license issued without a SSN#, so there is no way that one is revoked if it never existed. CA does not issue a license without a SSN#, and you need to have a visa that will permit you to work in the US in order to get a SSN# issued to you in the first place. But you do not have to appear in their office in Sacramento to get the license if you have a SSN#.

You cannot endorse a license from CA as you will not have one without a SSN#. Suggest that you do some reading on this forum as this question has already been discussed at length.

And since the English exams are required for you to pass in order to even have a chance at working in the US, we recommend that you use proper spelling and grammar to have a better chance of passing those.

And just to set the record straight, you do not get a license issued to you when you pass the NCLEX exam, therefore you will not have anything to endorse to another state, only exam results can be forwarded, but no endorsement so you would need to go thru the entire process with initial licensure but have CA submit verification of passing of the exam.

Also be aware that you are looking at five years plus to even have a chance at a visa for the US, it is definitely not an automatic done deal any more.

Pardon my spelling and grammar from my other post, i was kinda in a hurry... juz for the record, i have already passed my ielts exam... thank you for the reminders though..

Regarding your reply, does that mean that theres no chance at all for me to have a US license unless i get a SSN# which i could only acquire if i work in the states???

Wat if i want to have a license from another state, lets say vermont or newmexico... Can i just submit my exam results, rather than taking another NCLEX exam in the said state??

You can only get SSN once in the US with a valid work visa. If you read the sticky California for initial licensure it tells you what to do as you can't endorse your license as you haven't got one to endorse but there is a way to move your NCLEX results across. Bare in mind most states when up for renewal require a SSN and currently looking at over 5 years before your visa application will be processed going on current dates on visa bulletin

Not sure what you are really looking for regarding moving results to another state, the sticky I mentioned explains it all on what you need to do to move results to another state.
