Bus Aide and Staff Training

Newbie here. Gotta do my first training of staff and a bus aide for a new kid who is at risk for seizure. Tips?

Tell them that a watch is part of their uniform. They must have it every day. If a seizure does happen and the medication is ordered after 10 minutes, you have to actually know when 10 minutes has passed. Your internal clock is screwed up by adrenaline no matter how much ice water you think is in your veins.

Do you have seizure protocols by your district? We have a form to go over and give them. 1st, do this, then do this... I also review the students on their bus and any other health issues they might have, or other issues to watch for (this one sometimes bites, this one hates to be touched, etc)

I made copies of the student's ECP and went over what to look for and how to respond. I think it went well! Phew! One training down! Thanks for the advice!

Cool!

Now I have to train a large group soon. EEK! No one told me public speaking would be a part of the school nurse job.

I don't have to do that. The bus companies take care of it. *scratches my head*
