Bunch of questions

Hey guys... So anymore advice on wether I should get a Palm Pilot(PDA) or not?? Also what is LINGO??? and is there a website or book out there with medical terminology and Abbreviation that you can highly recommend?

I would recommend getting a PDA. I take my notes on it, then transfer them to my computer and print them out. I also installed an NDH program (Nursing drug handbook), and other helpful nursing programs.(including Taber's medical dictionary) You may not be able to use your PDA during clinicals, but I still find it handy to have the drug progam handy without having to lug around a text book. I'm just sorry I didn't have mine sooner!

Any suggestions on PDA system requirements, price range, brands. I would imagine that I would just use it for putting drug guide (Davis), Tabers, and any other useful software. How much HD space would I need for that.

apparently Dell Axim x30 is pretty good. I dont have one yet but thats probably the one il get. I think its about $300 with 64mb of memory. hope that help. Go check on pcworld.com they have a list of the top 10 PDA's on there.

The Dell Axim x30 is going to be the cheapest pocket PC, but most people can step down to the 312 mhz processor and only spend $200. Most people don't need the wireless.

If you like Palm and want to save money I suggest a Zire 31, it is around $150 and is a reliable PDA. Not the biggest and best thing, but will definately do what nursing software requires.

I suggest you definately get an expansion card in either case. At least a 128 MB card which is about $25 online ($50 at bestbuy  ). 64 MB sounds like a lot, but taber's takes up something like 45 MB by itself.

Most people are limited by price, but for around $200 you can buy a PDA and everything you need beside software. If price is no object you can go nuts and spend as much as $800, but thats just rediculous. :smackingf

A good site if you want to compare PDA's is Cnet... http://WWW.cnet.com

For expansion cards and accessories try http://WWW.newegg.com or http://WWW.zipzoomfly.com Both have the cheapest prices of anyplace I have found for accessories like expansion cards

The Ipaq 4155 is a awsome PDA. You can find it used on ebay for around 200.00. It comes with 64MB but you can expand that with an SD memory stick. It comes with Windows for Pocket PC 2003, and Word, excell any many other known programs. You can also useit as a recorder and has many cool features.
