BSN-MPH

I am cross posting this, as I didn't get any answers in the public health section. I hope that's ok.

I received a notice from my current college( I am 3 classes away from finishing BSN) that I am eligible to apply for the MPH at the college, and can waive the references and letters based on my current GPA. This sounds like a great opportunity that I had not considered, as I really want to get away from hospital/bedside nursing.

I imagine having the nursing background is an asset. As we all know, there is no nursing shortage, which reflects the difficulty of new grads getting jobs.How is the job market for MPH's? Is it worth going ( and paying) for more schooling?

Should I shadow someone in the field?I don't want to make another mistake again( that being nursing).I will most likely be over 50 when I am done with this. Is there ageism in this field also? I would also be bringing 10 years worth of acute care nursing with me though.

Thanks for any advises/suggestions.

    If you are aspiring to a career in which an MPH is required, go for it! But if not, an MPH may be of questionable value.
