Hi guys,
I'm a senior nursing student who is interested in eventually leaving the clinical side of nursing. Though I want to serve one comission with the Army nurse corps and develop leadership experience.
I've dug around allnurses regarding RN BSN MBA combination, but the answers are fairly general. Usually, they debate MSN vs MBA and/or the answer(s) tell the OP to do what they like to do.
My question is, what types of career opportunities are available to a RN BSN MBA? What industries are available? What positions within these industries? Google searches has yielded me vague answers such as hospital administrator/management.

I am struggling with the same thoughts. All of the RN BSN/MBA nurses I have ever worked with were employed as VP's, Director's, Department Heads, etc... I have had the best experiences working for nurse manager's with their MBA, as opposed to manager's without managerial/business education. MBA nurses seem to understand leadership, motivation, guidance, and general HR issues much better than only BSN/MSN educated nurses.
In my fantasy career I will become an AGNP with an MBA. That way I will feel comfortable at both the bedside, and in the boardroom, should I decide to go into management. Of course I will be completely broke and turning 80ish by the time I finish school!
Good luck!

Look for healthcare leadership positions ranging from unit manager to hospital administrator. Add in durable medical equipment and pharmaceutical sales roles (not necessarily you as the salesman). Also, consider health insurance carriers and watchdog audit positions.
I don't blame you for wanting to get away from the RN role.
