Brookhaven Nursing Program

Hello everyone!! I have been doing my support courses for the last year and a half and I'm going to apply for the nursing program at Brookhaven this month. Though I'm not really stressing about it I am a little worried. This is my 3rd attempt at college and the first 2 times I did horrible!! Since I made the choice to go to nursing school in Summer of 2009, I've brought my GPA up from 1.76 to 3.0. And, all my grades in my support classes have been A's and B's except 1, Nursing Pathophysiology. I made a C in that class and it would have been a B if I had not made one mistake at the end of the course. So, my question is does anyone think that C in that class will hinder me much? If anyone can offer any insight it would be great. Thanks!!

You can only apply once a semester, so twice a year. I applied 3 semesters in a row, getting in the third time. My first attempt, I jumped the gun. I didn't really think I would get in, but wanted the 3 points for the next time, because I knew I would be completing more support courses that semester. The second time I was seriously on the fence (Fall 2010)- I had my 3 points and the extra support courses, but still had 2 more to complete. I had also only made an 89 on the HESI. I think I applied with 31 points. That was the semester they took an additional 20 students, and I still was not in. I emailed the secretary about my ranking and she said I was on the alternate list- they pull the next 10 people to be alternates in case someone declines or has to leave the program suddenly and early on in the semester. The point differences were seriously in the hundredths! So, on my third attempt I retook the HESI and had completed all my support courses. I studied what I had missed on the HESI from a study packet I put together in the Evolve website, and I made a 95.6! I applied with 36 points, and was sure I would make it. I did! My advice is to keep trying. Now that there are no more "3 extra points", everyone really has an equal chance. And retake your HESI if you feel you can do better! Study what you missed, and don't stress out. There will be PLENTYYYYYYYYY of that in nursing school! And work as much as you can now and save some money because books and uniforms and supplies are expensive, and almost everyone had to cut back on work, or quit altogether. The number to aim for is 32- I'm pretty sure you will get in with that, but don't necessarily quote me on that!

This waiting is dragging....:anbd:

This waiting is dragging....:anbd:

how long have u been waiting?

too long____________________:anbd:.........

the application process is two months, for some of us that is too long to find out if you were accepted or not.

Amen! I am ready for the word so I can go on with my life! 14 days to go ... but who is counting?

Ten more days! I'm hoping they'll surprise us and let us know this week :)

It's possible! History has shown that they often times announce early, however, my group (the most recent one) was actually a day late! Don't count down the days...they get more and more stressful as you get closer!

I wonder if they will be sending the "yes" and "no" emails on the same day. If anyone receives a reply please post! Waiting...waiting...waiting

I got my email....I am in....yeah!:clpty:

:lol2:Me too!!!! The wait is FINALLY over! Congratulations to you Lupe...looking forward to meeting you!:yeah:

Congrats!! Lots to be excited about! Enjoy your summer, because you will be very busy/ occupied this fall!

I got in too!!! This is maybe the best day ever :D
