Brookhaven Fall 2020

Hey everyone! I decided to start this forum because I am a current transferring Nursing student moving from AR to TX. I am in need of all the tea on the program and faculty. Please feel free to leave comments! I’m just trying to get all of my ducks in a row now. I hope to meet someone of you all along this journey!

@Carlphys Hi Carl! I have my interview tomorrow I wanted to ask if they go in the order that your name is placed on the schedule?

thats how they did my group , the 5 people scheduled were asked questions in order, 1 question from a professor then the next person from a different professor, after each applicant has had 1 question they start from the beginning , there were 3 professors asking questions...you will only have to answer 2 questions, then a short time at the end for us to ask questions to the faculty members

Thanks for the insight, Carl!

Mine is 830-9am! ?? so nervous!! IDK if I should join 5 minutes before or wait until the exact time! @Iwanttobeanurse

wait til exact time, maybe one minute before.. There's interviews going on and they pretty much take all 30 minutes.

I would wait until the exact time just in case! I think they have 8am interviews too so if I were you I'd want to make sure I don't interrupt because they might be pinged by you entering the chat early! ?

But I totally understand the nerves! I am nervous too. I think everyone is and it's natural to be nervous. But try to remember that they WANT you in their program. They want to make a good impression on you as well and they are probably really nice people.

Just think, it's a conversation with friends ? no judgment, no worries, just be yourself and you can do it!

So I assume everybody's interview went well! That keeps me at ease.

They emphasized not working during nursing school.... and if you do limiting it to 20 hours a week.. anybody here plan on working full time? I have a lot bills to keep up with and want to avoid private loans... and if I don't work fulltime I won't have insurance.

I have the same dilemma. I am working full-time now but will have to go either part-time or PRN sometime during first semester or end of first semester. I don't know how I'm going to pay the bills by doing it but I'm going to figure it out.

I think that is why the graduation rate is so low, some years its only 40%, I will be dropping down to PRN while I'm in school and maybe doing 2 shifts a week, but also maybe why the NCLEX rate is over 90% ?
