Bridging Program in Australia

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Hi funnybanana1989, I have applied online and I got my AFP check already. It took exactly 3 weeks for me. Good for you that you were able to secure a slot for ACN. I have yet to submit the AFP check...Now I do not know if I am still able to secure a slot and I am hoping for the earliest July or August because the October is not feasible for me anymore due to my eligibility expiry. Though I will still try my best. When you applied for ACN, did they tell you what visa you are going to get? Or you just decided on your own what visa to take? Thanks a lot..

hi evan10, my eligibility will also expire this november.Regarding to the type of visa, i have inquired at via center in cebu, and they told me to secure a short stay business visa, though im confused if an insurance will be needed when filing for that type of visa. Recently, the immigration changed the short stay visa to visa subtype 600. hopefully, you will be able to secure for the july slot.

I sent my afp check application last april 15.they responded april 16. I still have not received it. They do not email you a copy. I did a follow-up and they responded that they will dispatch me a another one today, May 7. I hope i get it soon. Its the only one missing from my ACN application.

I got my AFP cert May 9. I scanned and had it CTC'd the same day and scanned and emailed it right away to ACN. So far, these 2 docs- coe and afp check- were what they asked from me to complete my application.but they have not responded as to what the status is. I did email today to do a ff-up.

xanxan may I know what COE means? Thanks...I have never had that kind of requirement I think.

Thanks funnybanana1989. I just sent my AFP now because no notary public were open Sunday and yesterday. So it is a subclass 600 visa then. But now there is an insurance needed for it? I hope so too I may get a slot.

hi evan10, im not sure yet about the insurance, but the via center here in cebu told me that an insurance will be needed.

Hi @chobieRN! are you going to ballarat thru AAON for the June intake? have you applied for the visa already? i'm beginning to worry since i have already lodged my visa application last may 6 and I havent received any email from the embassy yet (i don't even know who my case officer is) and i heard that the medical exam takes a very long time. i plan to leave on the 3rd of june.

Thanks for the info funnybanana1989. I already sent the AFP check to CON and got their email just now that they received it. Plus I am waiting for IHNA's letter of offer. So as of now all I can do is wait. Hope I can make it in time before my eligibility expires this December.

Have you checked your junk mail? The embassy confirmed they got my docs after 2-3 working days, then I received the notice for medical exam after 2 working days. Finished my medical last May 9.

Hi funnybanana1989,

You will be needing the OVHC (Overseas Visitors Health Cover for Visitors Visa) for your insurance. It will cost you $108 valid for 3 months :) On the other hand, OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover for Student Visa) costing $127 for 3 months :) Hope this answers your question
