Bridging Program in Australia
It really takes some time and it varies too per state. Mine was lodged in Western Australia and I got it after 3 months. I know of some who got theirs only after a month, others have to wait for a year. It really will depend too on how fast your requirements are sent, processed. etc.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes I availed of their accommodation and what you pay for is basically the convenience of everything. The hostel here in Melbourne is only 1 cross away from the school and I have a lot of classmates who did not avail the accommodation. To give you a perspective, I will lay out the specifics because it's still up to you if you wish to get the accommodation or not. Some of my classmates have to travel by bus going to school. Others have accommodation within walking distance from the school. One pays 115 AUD per week while some 150 AUD per week. So just to give you a better picture, it is best to look for a place near IHNA if you have the time to search for one however you also need to consider the area and the amenities that place is going to offer just in case you do not wish to avail the accommodation. Transportation here is difficult if ever your place needs travel time because the buses here have schedules and once you're late, you have to wait for the next time. Some accommodations here has no wifi so that you should consider too because your laptop and internet access is a necessity for most part. If you wish to avail of the accommodation here offered in IHNA, be prepared. It's a dorm-like setting here where you have a common kitchen. Filipinos are paired with filipinos so if you have a companion whose going to be your classmate the better so you can share 1 room. However, if you don't know anyone, the management would be kind enough to pair you with a filipino as well. The accommodation problem comes when the placements are announced. Because you never know where you will be assigned and no one can request for a placement of their choice. So in my case I was assigned at New South Wales. That's a plane ride from here to New Castle in which the 3000 AUD you paid for is covered. That's the accommodation and the travel costs already. So for those who did not avail of the accommodation, they are trying to find places right now to live for their clinical placement. Others are already contemplating to get the accommodation offered by IHNA for the clinical. So for me, if you can and are willing, try to find a place nearby for the theoretical part then decide whether you will avail of the IHNA accommodation for the clinicals just in case you can't find one immediately. I only paid for convenience, that's all I can say but if I got time or best, if I have someone who can help me find an accommodation here before, I would take that chance. Hope it enlightens you :) Btw, BP is going okay so far but it feels like school all over again literally with lots of assignments, group works and etc. :) Over all, it's still fun. :) Good luck to your Visa grant. :)

Hi Annie, just to clarify, once we finished the program are we able to scout for employers then? Then after we get our registration then that's the time that we can apply for PR. Is that right?

Yes that's what I thought so too but when I confirmed with the one who is handling my app in IHNA, she said it was needed even in Melbourne (Perth students have to retake their MRSA there in Aussie basing from the Welcome email I got). So it is what I am rushing (the certificate) because I actually got an urgent email last Friday to provide already the certificate.

no I just gave the latest certification for my Varicella (if that's what you are talking about) since 2 doses are required (for NSW immunization).

We're the same actually I don't have anymore records of my past immunizations especially the child vaccines. When I was hired in a hospital, I was placed in the infectious area therefore I have to take a dose of the Varicella vaccine (this was in 2011-and the doctor told me that a single dose is okay with the new vaccine she gave). So the only vaccine record I had at that time is Varicella and the Hep-B vaccines we took as nursing students prior to having duties. So during the school application, I went to a family physician and got all the vaccines required (MMR, Varicella again-2 doses, DPT)...Your immunization can be done by going to a family physician in your area. PPD/Mantoux test is administered by a pediatrician. In my case, the family physician recommended a pediatrician for me to have my PPD test. For the Hep-B, since I got a record of it already (ask your school), I only did the additional requirement which is the serology (I think this two goes together: certificate and serology for Hep-B). You can obtain to this to any medical laboratory either private (within hospitals) or public (out of hospital) offices. For the MRSA clearance which is a requirement of IHNA (not to all schools though), you can ask that in your local hospital and have the results read by a doctor.

Hi I got worried with your post. IHNA delayed your clinical placement? What for? I am for their August intake and I never thought clinical placements can get delayed.

It's okay. :) I get the feeling too. :) Anyways I don't know but I never heard of a TB vaccine before. The TB test is the PPD/mantoux test. You can avail that to any pediatrician (yup, according to the doctor I had my immunizations with, Pediatricians are the ones who do the test nowadays). So I don't think you would be needing a BCG vaccine for it. But please ask your doctor about it first to be sure. Where are you from by the way? E-learning is okay. Yup the workbooks are fine. :) Basic concepts, nursing in australia, english learning, etc.. just find time to accomplish those. :)

Oh I see...I suggest you really have to do your immunization for all the adult doses to be safe. Even if I know I did have immunization to some of the diseases like chicken pox and all, I still availed of the adult immunization requirements. You will really need to show documents or certificates of your immunization because they will ask for it. As for serology, the only serology I did was that of the Hep-B one which is required along with a proof that you have already had Hep-B vaccines. Go to a doctor to inquire about the immunization. If you have to do it, do so now because some of the doses are required at least 1 month apart.

Yes for the Mrsa. I asked them and they said that it is needed. So it is what I am rushing now. I got my visa already. Are you for melbourne too? Have you applied for a visa yet?

Hi Jo_tan, I availed the accommodation since I don't have time to look for a place especially that I did have to rush things from the start since I got the offer letter to the time I applied for a visa. If I could have things my way I would have opted to look for a cheaper place (if given the luxury of time). When is your intake by the way? Are you for IHNA melbourne too?
