Bonuses

How many of you DNSs have a bonus incentive? My facility went from 2 stars to 5 stars in the 2years, 8 months I have been there....no thank you, no bonus. All other staff, including the administrator were there before, so not to toot my own horn, but really??? We had a deficiency free survey...first ever for the building and now have a 5 star rating.

I'm thinking of writing a letter to my boss and his boss and asking for a bump in my salary. Any thoughts?

I am not a DNS but if I were, I would probably wait until my annual review in four months and find out what the salary range is for DNS/CNO in my (our) region. I believe that it is called a competitive market analysis.

I would apply at another facility just to compare wages and benefits. I would let the CEO know that I am very happy here but that I had a very solid offer from another facility.

I would ask for a percentage increase based on the high end of that salary range and / or negotiate another 2 weeks of vacation or something equivalent. Ask very diplomatically, for more than what you expect and you will probably be pleasantly surprised with their offer.

You have exceeded expectations, saved them $$$$$$$ ( and take documentation to prove it) and should be compensated accordingly. You deserve more than a bonus. It's just business. I love negotiating. It is always a surprise to me how generous HR directors can be if you ask nicely.

Thanks for the advice but I already make more than most of the DNSs in the area.

I am in a very similar circumstance......same place 2 1/2yrs....was a 2 star....now a 4 star and am hoping to be a 5 star in the next 6 months. I am at the top of my wage scale for this area....no bonuses.....I take it in conferences and educational opportunities to advance my credentials.
