Boards in other states

Published

I will graduate in may from state A, and I am unsure where I want to move afterwards. Can I apply for jobs in states B,C,D and then take the boards in one of those other states if I find a job opening there? Or do I have to take my boards in the state that I was educated in first and then apply for a transfer or whatever.

thanks for the help, I've looked on a few different state's boards and for some reason can't find this information

you can attend nursing school in one state, apply for licensure in another state, and actually sit for the nclex in a third location that is convenient for you.

if you are thinking of applying for licensure in a state other than the one in which you attended school you should contact that state's board of nursing as early as possible to ensure that you have met all education requirements.

contact information for all of the state boards of nursing can be found at the national council of state boards of nursing's contact a board of nursing web page.

i hope this information was helpful. :specs:

You may find it easier to apply to the state you are training in and then once you are sorted with a job endorse license to the new state and meet their requirements

You can arrange this any way that you find convenient. You probably will want to test in the state where you are currently living, obtain that license, then endorse that initial license to the state where you find a job. Most likely you will not find a job until later, so this would make sense and save you time and money.
