BMCC NURSING PROGRAM FALL 2021

Good evening Everyone,

I have a question and it seems like everyone on this forum responds much quicker than the school does so please respond if you know the answer to this.

I plan on applying to BMCC’s nursing program in Fall 2021, I’ve completing my prerequisites (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100, Chem 121) and have gotten an A or A- in all my classes and accumulated a 3.9 GPA. I just completed Eng 201(which is not a prerequisite) Summer session with a C-. I’ve taken Speech 100 & I’m taking BIO 425 and Psy240 this fall.

Based on what I was told by The nursing dept, they only look at your grades for the 4 prereq’s (Eng 101, Mat 104, Psy100 & BIO425) but I’m wondering if I should retake my ENG 201 class for a better grade.

Please note I’m in the process of reaching out to my English 201 professor to dispute my C- grade.
And I’m considering transferring to other nursing schools since BMCC’s process is lengthy.
Please share your thoughts, Thank you!

I'm also going for evening ? 91% is good. That should get you in

I calculated w my PCI and HESI as well and I believe it came out to 89.75. I also applied for evening. Do you guys know others already in the program? I’m familiar with two others already matriculated.

@nads

you divide your GPA by 4.0 and multiply it by 50

then multiply your HESI by 50 and add them together.

Congrats on everyones HESI scores! I took the test yesterday (so happy that is over!!) and there were 12 people in my room taking the test. I know someone who took the test on Monday and said there were only 5 people who showed up to take the test - I guess there were 6 no-shows.

What I forgot to ask in our zoom info session last week, was if the people who are re-applying for the program (taking their second HESI test) get priority over new applicants? She did state that there were less new applicants this semester than normal, but remember we are also competing against people who are re-applying. I am wondering if they get priority over a new applicant or whether it is solely based on our pre-requisites GPA / HESI test scores. I hated the reading portion btw!!

It does seem like a lot of people did well this semester.

I don't know anyone in the program.

I heard the evening is less competitive but not sure.

I only know one girl. She's in her first semester in the program now

@NJL80

From what I understand no one gets priority. It's based on your scores.

That's the impression I was under too, but I am just wondering in a hypothetical situation if you had Person A (new applicant) who got on overall score of 92% and Person B (reapplying) who also got a 92% score who would be chosen to get in? It seems like since you can only apply twice to the program, they might let the person reapplying in. Just something I have been thinking about.

Does anyone know if you’re emailed or called if your admitted or denied?

I would think they'd use the GPA as a tie breaker
