BMCC Nursing Program FALL 2017

Is that for the day program??? Did they mention any dates for orientation in the package?? Thanks.

hi everyone, i just saw this thread... I picked up my package today for the day program. omg, do we really have to purchase all that?, I see they put an estimated cost of $1200 for requirement. Does anyone know what we absolutely should get and what we may pass on.

Based on what I've read from previous semesters, the main texts we need are the Fundamentals book,clinical nursing skills& techniques and the SIMCHART. "The package is all that you need" this information was provided by a nursing student in the "BMCC Nursing Fall 2016 " forum on pages 3-4 by user: Rnm0208.

That's all the insight I have so far, I wonder if they allow us to purchase the later editions of the books. I'm going to wait until after orientation to buy the textbooks, they might provide more information then.

The guy working in the bmcc bookstore told me that most students wait until after orientation to buy the books. He also didn't have a lot of them in stock yet but said they're going to be arriving in July.

yeah i'm waiting to buy the books. I cant believe the background check is $160!

Ugh seriously? I'm still trying to line up all the vaccinations. Background check/drug test is next. I want everything done before July if possible.

I just did the background test online at the site the package had, i only paid the $34, however, how do u registered for the drug test screening??/

ok i got the site for the drug testing...did u pay an additional fee for the test at the site for the drug testing.

I have yet to do the drug test, i plan to do it this Monday, I believe the $34 is all you have to pay.

The "background check" I was referring to was the castle branch software, we're basically paying 160 for the package, to use scanning and uploading our documents to the school and clinical sites.

FYI everyone I just spoke to someone at the nursing department (because when I logged onto the castle branch site I noticed that "drug test" is listed as part of the $160 package but also on a separate sheet in our packets for $34). She said that when we picked up our packets we were supposed to be told to hold off on everything until orientation to avoid doing something incorrectly or unnecessarily, as our professors will be there to explain everything in the packet. I asked her if it was okay to go ahead and get our physicals done and she said yes. But she said to wait on literally everything else. So I'm going to just do the physical and probably schedule the CPR training for now and then see what they say at orientation.
