Hello to all, Congratulations for making it this far. I hope you all get in! For those who do make it in the program here is some advice I wish I would have gotten before entering the program: 1. The fundamentals textbook alone is enough, everything you need to know is in that book, as for the online resources ...you can manage with YouTube videos and do some research for nursing skills and techniques. As for the simcharting, you can purchase that separately on the Elsevier website. 2. Nursing central is a great tool, but it is pricey. You can essentially google the information you need, and you'll be just fine. (google drugs and their functions/side effects) None the less if you have the money and want to buy the whole shabang go for it! But in all honesty I purchased every book listed and only really touched the fundamentals book! ...I ended up selling all the textbooks back to the bookstore except for the fundamentals book. 4. Reading is life lol, and if your class is provided with PowerPoints pay close attention to the details in the "notes" section of each slide, that is where most of the important content is. 3. PRACTICE QUESTIONS ARE THE KEY TO SURVIVAL! Take as many as possible ...it will take some time to adjust to the question and answer choices.... Sometimes the answer choices are all correct answers, but they want you to select the answer that is best for the patient& situation. 4. TAKE IT ONE TEST AT A TIME! 5. I recommend you buy 2 sets of scrubs for clinicals, it can get messy... really fast lol. 6. Before entering the program I was used to getting nothing but 90s or better, you will soon realize that it is challenging to maintain that streak in the program. The goal is to reach the finish line even if it means crawling to it. Don't focus on grades, a test # doesn't determine the type of nurse you're going to be just make sure you pass. There is always time to reflect on better answer choice and always room for improvement. What matters most is that you understand the material.

yes, Mr. * left me a voicemail on Wed and told me "they put the wrong medical form (physician form) in my package, it is supposed to be a double sided paper", I can it up when ever I want at the nursing dept. I am going in Monday to pick it up. I just listened to the voicemail again he said i have the option to pick it up or wait for the orientation.

I got the same call, first they give us the wrong paper work for our physicians to fill out, now they give us an out dated drug test paper. smh. I suggest everyone wait until orientation before moving forward.

I have yet to do the drug test, i plan to do it this Monday, I believe the $34 is all you have to pay. The "background check" I was referring to was the castle branch software, we're basically paying 160 for the package, to use scanning and uploading our documents to the school and clinical sites.

yeah i'm waiting to buy the books. I cant believe the background check is $160!

Based on what I've read from previous semesters, the main texts we need are the Fundamentals book,clinical nursing skills& techniques and the SIMCHART. "The package is all that you need" this information was provided by a nursing student in the "BMCC Nursing Fall 2016 " forum on pages 3-4 by user: Rnm0208. That's all the insight I have so far, I wonder if they allow us to purchase the later editions of the books. I'm going to wait until after orientation to buy the textbooks, they might provide more information then.

These textbooks are expensive! Cant wait for orientation!

congratulations to all who got in! I am going in Tuesday at 10am as well! WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!! we have a long journey ahead but i'm sure we will all get through!

Proud to say I'M IN!!! I got the call around 12:40pm!

I'm anxious! My biggest fear at this point is me missing the call( hopefully they leave a voicemail) or someone making a clerical error and calling the wrong phone number lol.

@Epineda OMG CONGRATS!!!!! I'm super nervous, i hope i get a call! if you don't mind me asking, what is the first letter of your last name?

lol i did the same thing! printed, took a picture and screenshot my results just to be on the safe side lol

Thanks for your insight! This is reassuring :) and Nope, nothing more was to be done. We just have to sit and wait for a call or letter. I believe calls are going to made out next week!

@BobbyG I hope that's not the case, I flunked the writing section. A few others whom I tested with got really high scores in all sections except for the writing. From what I understand they review your OVERALL score, regardless if you failed a section. I could be wrong though ( I hope that i'm not). Does anyone else know if they reject you if you fail a section?
