Becoming a 66C

I am currently working to enroll in an accelerated bsn program (2nd degree). My goal is to obtain my bsn and then re-join the Army. I was enlisted for 12 years. I would like to be a psychiatric / mental health nurse (66C I believe). What can I do over the course of the 16 month program or shortly after to help ensure that I can get that MOS instead of another in the 66 series?

Thank you for your help,

Bailey

You need to talk to an Army healthcare recruiter. Even though you have enlisted experience, you will still be subject to the 2 years of full-time RN experience that I believe the Army requires. The Air Force and Navy still take new grads.

In general, all military branches start you in med-surg or L&D for the first few years as a new grad. You need to get a year of full-time RN inpatient psychiatric experience in the civilian sector first. That will ensure you join the military as a mental health/psychiatric nurse.
