Baylor Pay

I was just told by my hospital that I am on Baylor pay but don't actually get paid for the additional 4 hours a week( I work 3 12's Friday- Sunday) because my hourly rate is higher so that I get paid what I would working full time?? I've been there 7 years and only make $37/hr. Does that make sense? Is that legal?? Ughhh

I didn't think they did true Baylor anymore (getting paid for 40 hours while only working S/S. I am a "weekend option" RN-they don't call it "Baylor" (sign a contract that I agree to work every weekend; I am allowed 8 weekend days off/year without penalty). I work Fri/Sat/Sun. I get the weekend differential plus a little more so my base is about $35, but the differential is, I think, $13 more so it's like $48/hr. I have been at my current job 9 years and been doing weekends for 7ish years.

I would think that if you are making $35 with the differential, that's pretty low. As far as legal?  They can pay whatever they want.

Unless you have a signed contract stating you are being paid 40 hours for the Baylor option there's nothing illegal about it.  That being said unless you are in an area with overall low pay $37.00/hr sounds like a pretty low number to me.  Even without true Baylor pay there's usually some kind of bump in hourly wages for a weekend option. Weekend shift pay, shift differentials, etc.  Does your wage include any kind of bonus pay for taking a weekend only schedule?
