Basic Microbiology or Microbiology??

Microbiology is generally a challenging course, but as to which of these courses is harder....I think you'd need to chat with someone at your school. Maybe a nursing or science advisor? There's just no way for us to know the specifics of these two courses at your school.

I was actually a teacher's aid for a general microbiology lab this last semester. The professor I was helping also taught an intro to micro (basic micro) class, as well. We were talking about how the two compare the other day, and basic micro (depending on the teacher), can usually be thought of as taking the core concepts of general microbiology and removing most of the tricky little details. Basically, general micro should cover most of the same concepts, but in greater detail.

if you intend to further you education , ie np etc. suck it up and take the more challenging one.....
