Hey just wanted to throw this out to any MN RN's who are working in the hospitals now. I am finishing my BSN in Memphis TN and have to work a year for them to pay off my schooling (great deal approx 15G for a years work) Is there any MN (metro or otherwise) hospitals worth looking into for employment. Looking to go to grad school once back to MN. My wife is a H.S. math teacher, hoping she can find a job as well. I grew up near Duluth and I know it's almost impossible to get full-time position up there. In Memphis Tn area things are wide open for anyone wanting to work in any area & now starting to throw some bonus money to attract and keep nurses. I would stay if I had never grew up in MN and miss all that it offers. Anyone wanting to move to TN just give me a PM and I will set you up.

Ever consider Mayo Clinic? I know....Twin Cities and all; traffic...but
they are "top of the line". Plus, you aren't too far from Duluth (esp. if my husband is driving...you would be in Grand Marais real fast!)
Check out the MN State Forum at: https://allnurses.com/forums/f155/ to see what the threads say.

BTDT. I get tired of trying to surf thru LPN and CNA Q's about salaries and such. The MN forum is not that good for generating any good employment info.

I work at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview. We have an awesome union on the Riverside campus. Fairview Southdale is represented by the same union, I believe. The pay for new grads AD is $24.35 and for BS degrees the starting pay is around $25 per hour. You will earn higher pay for your hours of experience as an RN I believe. Don't worry about working full time. Start at 0.8 and you can work double shifts or pick up a shift. When you work a double shift, you are paid 1.5 X your salary the first 4 hours and double time the second 4 hours. We are paid triple time on New years Eve and Christmas. Double time other holidays like Easter, Good Friday... The health care contract is awesome. We have 0 copay for office visits. We pay $9 for all prescriptions filled at a Fairview pharamacy and $14 if filled at any nonFairview pharmacys. Also, we have no formulary for prescriptions and no approval needed to get meds filled!!! Unheard of these days. For a single person, the premium is about $52 per month.
Any other questions????
