AZ IV Certification?

Is AZ IV Certification now part of nursing school? What about the EMT-I's that get it? Where do they go? Thanks in advance.

I found the course.

I would like to know where you found the course, because I will be having to take it in March when I'm done at the skill ctr.

At the skill ctr you get labs in phlebotomy and IV, and your able to start IV's in clinical after that, but you are not IV certified. We will get a certificate saying we learned these skills, but i hear most facilities will still like the LPNs to get certified. Plus, if you want to do LPN-RN through MCC, you have to be IV certified as a qualification.

Hi Rebecca,

At Glendale you get IV certified in block 3 pharmacology. It is not a prereq to get into the RN program.

If any one is interested the class is NCE 223 (I think that it's offered at Gateway and MCC). I was worried about this too, because - according to the old info for LPN-RN Advanced Placement transfer students, it seems that one has to have an IV Cert class. I was looking at the newest information, and it seems that if a person recieved his/her LPN at one of the local colleges (MSC, SKC, etc.), and he applies within 6 months of finishing, them this requirement is waived. Also, if one can show evidence of IV training in the curriculum, then this requirement is waived.

Advanced Placement Admission Requirements for Graduates of Practical Nursing Programs within the Maricopa Community Colleges:*

* Graduates of the Maricopa Skill Center Practical Nurse Program, the GWCC Fast Track Practical Nursing

Program, and the Southwest Skill Center Practical Nurse Program may enter the MCCD Nursing Program at

Block 3 within six (6) months of PN program completion. When the PN graduate enters after 6 months of

program completion, the applicant is considered Advanced Placement and must apply under the requirements

of the LPN Applicant. A valid, current and unrestricted practical nurse license, LPN, is required.

Evidence of IV content in PN curriculum or course in IV Therapy and

Venipuncture

Now that I remember back..........when I applied for block 3 I did take a part of the syllabus that stated IV training over at Maricopa Skill Center. Nobody seemed interested - must be because I was within the 6 month rule!
