I will be starting a job at Lehigh Valley Hospital and to be honest, I thought the pay would be better. What's the average for a new nurse?

Feb 25, 2007 $22-$25 seems to be starting average in Philadelphia area.Gulped when I saw that Philadlephia hospital 12/12 program I used to work in now is up to $43 hr AM, $48 PM ---that is average $13 hr more than I make as a manager in same health system.Lehigh Valley has always paid lower than Philly area despite being 1 hr away...that's why many RN's make commute to city. I even had colleages from Pocano's work 12/12 weekends due $$.

newnurse07 8 Posts Mar 6, 2007 i think starting pay is very good. I am a new nurse and the hospital i am currently at pays 26.67. with sift diff i will make 30 and some change. so that's pretty good for a new nurse i think
