Hi,I am a 42 y.o male that started classes at MCC and I actually only have 2 pre- reqs. to do before applying to a nursing program. The problem is we had twin boys and my opportunity to attend classes on any campus is gone.At least for awhile yet.Rio Salado has online classes but they want me to repeat classes I already passed at K-State.I like MCC and I live in Mesa but they have no online classes.
I will become an R.N but at the moment I just want to get to the LPN level in order to get back into the field and get out of my current occupation.
Can anyone out there recommend or know of online programs to become an L.P.N?
Thanks!!

Have you thought of starting as a CNA? SCC offers the course and it is only 6 weeks; I do not know if you could swing that with your current situation. I think other Maricopa colleges offer it as well. Many hospitals who hire CNA's will often give extra training that can allow you to get better pay and move up to other positions (like a PCT). Some will even pay for your schooling. Also, Gateway's LPN program requires you to have gone through a CNA program, so you may want to keep that in mind if you end up being able to do classes on site in the future. It may not be your first choice to work as a CNA, but it is a great start.. Good luck!

RSAA offers CNA courses as well. They are located in Mesa and offer a great program. I did the 3 week day program. I would recommend that over taking half or an entire semester. They also offer evening/weekend courses as well. Good luck on your journey and congrats on the babes :)
aztova, Thanks for your reply. If I have to become a CNA first I will.I will look into the RSAA program and see if It will work with my schedule.I know it will be fairly easy due to my experience in the Army as a medic and I also went to PMI a nbr of years ago and completed the Physical Therapy Tech program and I worked at St.Marys Hospital in Tucson for a few years.
I like most, am just anxious to get on with my schooling with as little delays as possible but the different life circumstances we all face do not always jive with the current programs or training that is available.
Thanks for your kind words.

There are no totally online LPN programs. Every program, whether online or brick and mortar, requires clinical classes that must be completed in the vicinity of the school or in the area where the student lives.
koalakoala,Thank you for replying to my ?If I need to become a cna first then I will.My wife and I both work full timewith different schedules and therein lies the problem with attending classes anywhere.I really am in an unfavorable position with work and home life. But I have thought of going to one of the hospitals here and talking to someone to see if they have any suggestions for me as well.My goal for now is to get as many classes done online as possible before I need to leave my job for good in order to finish some coursework.
Thanks again for your info.
Thanks for your reply. I am aware that I would need to do clinicals somewhere. My goal is to complete as many classes as possible online before I would have to quit my job in order to do the clinicals.
THANKS!
