  1. Hi I am a current nursing student at a Maricopa college and I personally quit my job in order to attend the program. Some people do work but I personally needed all the time I could get to study. The other thing is that the nursing program schedules can interfere with your work ,kids school, schedule etc. I was in class 2 days a week typically with and occasional 3rd day for clinical practice. Some students were put into afternoon classes. Also you will need to do a clinical somewhere and that may be a 12 hour shift on a week or weekend day. You really don't know until you are in your first day orientation and they give you your schedule. So a flexible job is in my opinion what is needed. Each block has a different class schedule as well. Be prepared to be flexible.
  2. I finished one of my last 2 co reqs. I received an email they are going to place people again about the 25 of this month (March). But then when I went to re affirm my interest and update my info it says there are only 9 seats at MCC. If I am not placed this time My wait will have been over 3 years. They told me 2.I don't see how they can do this to people. It seems like they offered a program and people did what they were required to do and now they are not able to provide the service they promised. If I do not get a seat I will probably not get in at all because I will sending my complaint fwd and notifying the media etc. They are putting people that are getting their Bach. Deg. ahead of everyone else. They didn't say they would do this when I applied for the program etc.
  3. Congrats to all of you starting the program in the spring. Can you tell me how long was your wait? I have been on the list since 11/2011.I hope to have a seat soon but as you know cannot get an answer from the school. Thanks.
  4. Hi, I have been on the waiting list since Nov. 2011. They still cannot tell me when I will have a seat. I was told the last group to be placed waited approximately 2yr.and 4 mo. It is frustrating to wait so long.
  5. Thanks for your reply. I am aware that I would need to do clinicals somewhere. My goal is to complete as many classes as possible online before I would have to quit my job in order to do the clinicals. THANKS! Jon
  6. koalakoala,Thank you for replying to my ?If I need to become a cna first then I will.My wife and I both work full timewith different schedules and therein lies the problem with attending classes anywhere.I really am in an unfavorable position with work and home life. But I have thought of going to one of the hospitals here and talking to someone to see if they have any suggestions for me as well.My goal for now is to get as many classes done online as possible before I need to leave my job for good in order to finish some coursework. Thanks again for your info.
  7. aztova, Thanks for your reply. If I have to become a CNA first I will.I will look into the RSAA program and see if It will work with my schedule.I know it will be fairly easy due to my experience in the Army as a medic and I also went to PMI a nbr of years ago and completed the Physical Therapy Tech program and I worked at St.Marys Hospital in Tucson for a few years. I like most, am just anxious to get on with my schooling with as little delays as possible but the different life circumstances we all face do not always jive with the current programs or training that is available. Thanks for your kind words.
  8. Hi,I am a 42 y.o male that started classes at MCC and I actually only have 2 pre- reqs. to do before applying to a nursing program. The problem is we had twin boys and my opportunity to attend classes on any campus is gone.At least for awhile yet.Rio Salado has online classes but they want me to repeat classes I already passed at K-State.I like MCC and I live in Mesa but they have no online classes. I will become an R.N but at the moment I just want to get to the LPN level in order to get back into the field and get out of my current occupation. Can anyone out there recommend or know of online programs to become an L.P.N? Thanks!! Jon
